So as you know a while a go I wrote a post about the kids in the Geek Club writing to companies that I have spent a lot of money in and they basically ignored the kids.
Anyway before the summer I wrote to The Army Painter on behalf of the kids. I got a nice email back saying I should apply for a sponsorship (I cannot remember the full name). It said give as many details as I could, which I did. Basically five kids in my little school club. It said on the form that they have loads of such requests and to be honest I really thought we were maybe a bit small.
After the summer break I got an email from Peder saying they were going to send us some paints and some brushes. They duly arrived and the kids loved them. Obviously as a teacher you never miss an opportunity to get kids writing. Today we got a lovely email from Peder thanking us for the lovely letters and addressed all of the kids by name. He even said he was sending us some more paint. So according to me and the Geek Club, Peder is a totally Top bloke and The Army Painter are a totally Top Company.
I just wanted to share a positive story…
I am really happy with the Speedpaints 2.0 and after getting the set for my birthday I am probably going to try the metallics and some other colours have caught my eye.
Here is my Speedpaint knight from a couple of weeks ago.

I hope!
So last night after having another failure I decided that enough was enough and that i Would relevel the bed. Good job I checked as although the front bolt was well and truly solid, thse side one was decidedly loose.
So I took out the resin, did a tank clean, which I had never done before and relevelled the plate. I gave some 40mm Gladiators another go. Yesterday I got two bodies and nothing else, today I got everything.
I am doing a reprint of the pair I printed the other day.

Hopefully I will get everything printed on that one too. Everything seems to have printed properly.
Today i did battle with the rotten floorboards in the lounge… i won, but it was a close run thing… This is the joys of a 200 year old house that has no foundations and everything sits directly on the ground (the floor is about 6 inches above the soil). After feeling quite proud of myself, I found some more that need replacing… i must admit i did say the off naughty word, especially as I had just nailed the replacements down. if i had noticed earlier my life would have been easier as i could have used the spaces i had made to eaily remove the extra bits…
Tonight I managed to slap some paint on some miniatures. I was hoping to have a couple of gladiators to paint, sadly an arm and head failed to print… which was a bit of a pain.
I managed to do a bit on a pair of the knights and some associated foot soldiers.

I also got the one gladiator almost finished…

He won’t win any prizes but I wanted to give one a go. Again he is about 40mm to eye level.
Well if you remember I backed a really cheap Kickstarter a little while ago.

They are back with another. If you have a 3D printer you might find something
My wife has got well into her Isopods so I thought a necklace and earrings as a bit of a daft present for her birthday 🙂

Oh yeah some twit forgot to take his steroids this morning then spent 3 or 4 hours sawing and using sanders… really not clever!
Yeah… I think I need help!

I have purchased these chaps from Wargames Atlantic online Tribe… why…. Not sure, but they kind of look cute!
Bloody Hell. I have actually managed to do some painting this evening….

I really, really, really cannot be bothered to paint at the minute so this took a lot of effort. A lot of it was belts and bridles so it took a good old bit of concentration. I really need to get back into this and stop making any excuse I can think of to avoid it.
I think that Duc de Renoir will look okay once he is finished.
I had better get back into researching heraldry as I have a feeling that there may be a fair bit in the future.
Of course I will have to do me…

I have me in 10mm and 15mm… really got to do the 28mm version sometime. Interestingly the maroon and black used above are almost an identical colour match to my soft kit.
So hopefully I will get my arse into gear and keep painting…
So this evening I got booted off the computer. I was busy making a camel to go with the 2mm miniatures. I also have worked on a legionary century. The auxiliaries I did did kind of work. But they need to be increased to at least 110% to match what I already have.
So I went for the Barbarian forces. With some additional buildings and siege engines.

I have done a flesh base colour for the infantry and a dark brown base for the cavalry. Once fully dried I will dry brush the riders white to allow the flesh colour to be put over the top.
The other thing is my Mug came back yesterday…

I have also been a bit busy on the other blog… every time we have been out I have done a little vlog blog… this is one of the latest ones:
So as a few more of you have got a 3D printer I thought I would share this Kickstarter with you. I honestly nearly overlooked this one as I thought it would be super expensive…actually, it was only $12.00 all in. There are some super useful terrain pieces in this set (180 pieces in total) and to be honest I think they are selling themselves a bit short.
Some of their earlier work is also excellent and well worth a look 🙂
