Birthday Present Finished

Well, I managed to get everything finished…

His Birthday is today.

They were a lot of fun to paint. It was tricky trying to match in my painting with that of someone elses, but I managed. The main problem was my snow compared to that of Alternative Armies, Mine is more powdery, theirs is more sparkly 🙂

I really enjoyed painting the Ferach in the background. they actually didn’t take much time at all as they are so swaddled in blankets etc. there was a lot of large areas of one colour. If I wasn’t setting my campaign further into the South then I may have splashed out on a unit or two.

They have come a fair old way from the bare metal a few weeks ago. I would have finished them long ago If I hadn’t got back into gaming on the console.

To be honest,  the actual painting was finished a week ago, it is the bases that took the time…aka I don’t like doing bases. Most of mine are still waiting to be based.

This lunchtime I took a break from Quasi Napoleonic miniatures and set about building a trio of Char B tanks for another mate.

I got as far as this:

There was a bit of a whoops on the rear wheels causing the gap in the attached tracks. Nothing a bit of green stuff won’t repair.

I am not looking forward to all of the fiddly bits, of which there are many!

Bedtime Ogres

Sadly didn’t get them finished.

Managed to get this far though…

Weapons and straps still to paint, shading and highlights on flesh and headgear and then the tidying up of the bit I missed or indeed missed.

I think they are coming together as a unit.

Carrots and the Odd Ogre or Two

Yesterday I painted up a couple of carrot piles.

I also managed to get these taken from here:

To here:

Still a fair way to go, but hopefully I can get them finished tonight. I wouldn’t have normally painted the epaulettes on the greatcoat red, but I wanted him to match in more with the rest.

These are really nice figures, there is only this advancing pose in this range. But it works well. Four are armed with hand cannons and the other two with double muskets. They have a mixture of packs and pouches. All have a water skin apart from the one with the axe attached to his pack

Two have pom-poms on their shako. Whilst one is in his bonnet de police.

I think they make rather a nice unit. Very hard hitting in game terms.

Ogre Officer

I have worked on this chap for the last few days.

He has come a long way from the bare resin.

He is a lovely figure. Full of character. He is armed with a hand cannon and trust telescope. He is made from resin so super lightweight. I spent a lot longer on this one than I have with a lot of the other ones.

However there are still the odd problems that the camera sees and I don’t 🤪🤪🤪

He is to be an officer for my unit of ogres. I think I will make a start on them next.

I have also snagged a bargain on EBay a unit of 7 Ostarian cavalry and a gun and crew. The gun is painted whereas the cavalry are not.

More Finished

Managed to get these all finished:

Well when I say finished … the crests need a brighter highlight.

Mine are the lighter coats, my mates are the darker.

Not sure what to paint next…

Probably these:

They are undercoated and ready to go.

Ferach Stragglers II

I had another bash at these tonight.

They are pretty much finished apart from the metalwork on the muskets and a bit of toning down on the grey highlights on the black hats. It didn’t darken down a# much as I expected when it dried.

I also managed to get a bit more done on my Zombies.

They still have a bit to go but I am getting there.

Bits and Bobs of Painting

I did some painting, not that you can tell…

Wash put on the Ferach troops. This will need to dry properly before I get the highlights done. I also got their hats done.

A wash was put on the zombie cuirasses.

I will get some more done tomorrow night.

Ferach Stragglers

Started on these four tonight.

Half an hour’s work to get to here.

This is a base colour for the clothing and skin, onto washes and highlights later on when the paint dries. Although a rag tag bunch each has the blue and the green colour to help tie them in together.

Hats will be black and no doubt red will appear somewhere too.

The three at the back are mine in the queue.

The Ferach are to add to the Savant Zombies I finished the other day.

Savant Zombies Finished (part 1)

These are pretty much finished…

I am pleased that I have pretty much matched in the prepainted ones and these new ones.

The bronze is a bit off but in a unit, it won’t really show up that much. I am a bit miffed about it as it was almost a perfect match. My wash was obviously a different shade than theirs.

The command section is also complete

I am quite pleased with how they have come out.

I eventually managed to make a flag to fit the pole.

I also managed to get a fair bit done on my Zombies…

I am not one for green zombies, so I thought I would mess around with a bluish tinge to the skin. This still needs work, but I am pleased with the initial results.

The final thing I managed to do tonight was to finish Mr Pig!

Tomorrow I will crack on with the Witchlands Ferach as I have to get these done for my mates birthday present.

It really hasn’t helped that my mother in law fell and broke her hip. Everything is up in the air. Her operation was cancelled today and the pain killers make her throw up. To make matters worse She hasn’t eaten since Monday.

Bedtime Zombies….

I managed to purchase some bronze paint

Except GW now call Dwarf Bronze Hashut Copper! What the heck?

Anyway enough moaning… I think I am getting the new ones matched into the old.

Still a ways to go but I am getting there.

I did some more flags today, guess what…still too big! The problems of designing them without measuring the flag pole.

Luckily my mate quite likes this one… a lot easier to cut down.

Waiting on an answer as to the colour he wants it painting.

I am letting the metallics dry overnight before adding a sepia wash.
