Petrochemicoli and the Dwarf.

Latest figures finished and not some 70’s progressive rock band.

I really must sort out a way to take better photographs. Once the shed is redone I will have a painting area with a light box and better lighting.

I have got the kids painting today.

Civilian Update

I have made a start on these two. I have a bit of a conundrum with the froggy. It is basically down to the colour of his skin. On the website he is a blue colour. I am not so sure about blue, but if not, then what?  He is meant to be mega rich, so his clothes are vivid colours with gold brocade ( base colour on ready for dry brushing with shining gold then top highlight with burnished gold). The dwarf is still in a base colour stage. I will get him further tomorrow.

Orc Hussars update II

These chappies are taking forever. They, as you might imagine being Hussars, are quite intricate. I am also trying to get lots of shades etc in the different colours, I still think I am being too subtle on some of the colours. Once upon a time I would have just painted base colours then thrown a wash on. I am really liking how they look. The horses are all but done, just hooves and markings to finish.

HEVC

I love these little guys. Once again really great to paint. Some tricky flash to get rid of between the legs,  nothing a modelling knife couldn’t get rid of. Still wondering whether to put a coloured band on the hat or whether to leave it black. The Foundry Bay brown triad has eventually been used as a skin tone. Probably had the paints 6+ years. I am rather pleased with the results. I can see I am going to have to get some more of the HEVC because they are awesome.  Naming the individuals is going to be the tricky bit.

The Lost Cause – completed

I finished these this evening, another lovely trio to paint. I am a bit miffed that the back of the kilt is better than the front😱.  For some reason I went with a red base coat ( had some spare red from the chaplain’s tunic) it limited the colours to use. In hindsight I should have gone with a green. I might put a light wash over it to tone it down a bit.

Next up is the HEVC halflings, an Ostarian general and some fairies to finish off.

Civilians II

Cracked on a bit with these this morning (I actually got up early).

I am really enjoying painting these.  Not sure why I like them so much, probably because they are so full ofcharacter. The orc in the raincoat makes me think of him standing in the rain. Stuck there with a look of resignation on his face.
