Goblins Finished and Started

This evening I managed to get the Goblins I have been painting finished, well I though I had until I saw the photo and noticed more white than an explosion in a Tippex factory.

I also used any spare paint on a frog rider and a shaman/leader and then I had a bit of a sneeze whist pouring out a drop of flesh coloured paint for the frog’s mouth… then this happened…

The bottom eight were in a box that was going to use for a One Ring game. In my mind these are the worst goblins ever…I mean what happened in the sixty years from these ones to the ones in the Lord of the Rings… I know they grow fungus in the Misty Mountains, but was some of it penicillin… never mind I digress.

Tomorrow I will get back on with the Highland Miniatures bow armed goblins.

Goblins with Extras

After a week of hunting for a box full of miniatures, I knelt down in the passage and voila, there it was on top of another box.

I worked on the rest of the Goblins this evening. I cracked on and seemed to achieve very little. I got to here ( plus work on the bow goblins).

I had fully intended to get these finished, but sadly failed to meet my self imposed deadline.

In the back you can just about see the unit musician with his gong. The leader in the foreground was painted about a year ago.

So this is my unit with hand weapons. The missing miniature box has a unit with pole arms. So once this lot and the bow armed ones are finished I will move onto the pole arms.

I am pleased that I am getting back into regular painting.

More Goblins

I had a busy old morning putting the battens up to take the cladding. It absolutely wrecked me. I spent the rest of the day feeling knackered. I did manage to get some paint thrown onto some of the goblins.

I am doing the green from the hoods as the tunics for the archers. I didn’t bother photographing them as they are just in the skin and tunic.

Goblins, Paints and Bats.

This evening I decanted a further eighteen of the Contrast paints. The great advantage as well as not drying out is that you can fit more in the same space.

I also managed to finish the goblin netters and a bat swarm.

The bat swarm was probably printed at least eighteen months ago.

As Army Painter are pretty top dudes in my mind they sent the Geek club a pile more paints… look out for another post. I decided to try out the metallic Speedpaint range.

So I just tried the broadsword steel this evening and it isn’t too shabby. Went on easy and does have a sort of metallic sheen to it.

I would suggest it would need a highlight over the top, but this is my first real blast at them so I might not be using it to its best effect.

I still have ten goblins with hand weapons to finish.. hopefully I will get some done tomorrow evening. I will be adding cladding to the lounge wall tomorrow so I may be somewhat pooped. I will have to remember my steroids tomorrow morning or I will be more than pooped!

As Expected…

I started on some goblins… so as I had these undercoated it wasn’t really a difficult decision …

Now I would have got a whole lot further if I hadn’t have got extremely annoyed by the Aggaros Dunes Contrast paint which had turned to a treacle like consistency. After a bit of swearing this happened…

I was only going to do the Aggaros Dunes, but it was quite relaxing. In the end I had managed fifteen bottles. I basically did what I had in front of me.

I bought a whole box of twenty mini funnels, however I actually only used two as I was doing it at the kitchen table and I was right beside the sink.

I still love my Contrast paint, but as I said in an earlier post I am not so happy at having to dump a pile of paint at £5 a pot.

Hopefully I will get more goblins painted tomorrow.

I hope to also decant some more paint into the bottles.

Ghouls

This evening I managed to get the ghouls finished…. Well I think I have. I thought I had finished and then realised there was a skull on the base that was unpainted!

There are two distinct colours. This is because there are two units here. this allows me to work out who has lost what casualties in a game.

I started these in October 2022 so, it is about time I got them finished.

Probably goblins next…

Skeletons Finished

Well I got my arse into gear tonight and finished the skeletons….

I am still in two minds whether to add rust to these or not. I didn’t on any of the other ones in the army so perhaps not.

In the same box as the skeletons I found a dozen ghouls … I might as well do these next…

I will keep you posted.

Colouring In

It was a bit of a long day today and I really could not be bothered with painting this evening. This is an edited post as the long one went on my other blog, sadly I couldn’t copy it across on the tablet.

Once I get going again with the Knights I will need to make my life a bit easier on the heraldry… definitely no comple quartering for me. The hardest I will attempt is a diamond pattern.

I decided that getting some ideas down on paper might help so voila…thank you Internet…

Skeletal Swordsmen

I decided to get the metalwork done on the Skeletons this evening.

I mainly went for an iron colour. The sword cross guards and leaders’s breastplate were done in bronze. I actually nearly did the whole lot bronze, but didn’t as I felt the swords didn’t look Bronze Age! I am happy to accept (or suspend belief) to allow for ambulant skeletons… but couldn’t bring myself to paint a fantasy sword the wrong colour!!! I need help, I really do 🙂

Tonight after fighting for an age to sort out the videos for the Jarlshof trip it turned out I wasn’t allowed to upload to WordPress. It seems like there is a limit of one. .. even though it said no videos allowed. There is a super simple fix though… send them £120 including VAT and all my video problems would disappear.

Fair enough, I thought and added my videos to YouTube. Now I get that WordPress is a company, but does it seriously make a difference if I fill up my 3gb with videos or photos. In my mind letting me fill it up with videos would mean I have to decide earlier to pay or not.

Yeah I know it is probably more complicated than that, but I am cross and not willing to cut them any slack.
