When Walls Fight Back

Well I went to add the last three supports for the cladding and it all went pear shaped. First one went on fine, second one wouldn’t due to a. Finding only mortar between the stones and b. It was being a b*stard. I think one of the thunderbolts was bent. I eventually won, but it finished me off for the day. Hopefully the last one will go on without a fight, but I have my doubts.

The joys of a stone house built in at least the 1700’s. To be fair it has probably been rebuilt and altered a lot since then… never mind probably I know it has as my front door used to be the way into the Byrne.

One day I will discuss this further 🙂

I Peopled

This week I decided that I should stop being a hermit and actually get out into the hobby world again. I won’t lie. I really had to push myself to make sure I went. I actually went with part painted miniatures… which for me is really unusual. I wasn’t going to allow any excuses.

We had a bash at One Page Rules ´Grimdark Future.

We played a couple of games and by the second I was getting the hang of it.

So this is what I printed.

I eventually got the wheel to print. I found a random miniature to act as the third member of the crew. I found some suitable heads on a plastic sprue. The gun is really deadly when it hits something. Sadly I don’t know as I never managed to hit anything. The reason I know is that in the second game we simply swapped forces and I was on the receiving end. Here are a couple of in game shots…

This was pretty much my dice rolls in the first game!

A Night Out

Well, we went on a family night out tonight. To Begin with we went to see a Haunting in Venice. It was a jolly good film and there were enough red herrings to keep us all guessing. After that, we went out for a celebratory meal. This was because both my wife and eldest were successful at interview. We headed off to the Shetland hotel where we had an amazing meal too. So all in all a great evening, I then came back and played Baldur’s Gate 3.

Tomorrow I am going to head off to the club, about time I stopped being a bloody hermit and went off to meet people again. I know I said I wasnt going to print anything new, but I could really do with something to bolster my meagure forces. I am printing one thing (well it will end up as one thing) 🙂

Skeletal Cavalry

Tonight I did a smidge of painting…

I probably would have got a lot more done, but my eldest and I bought Baldur’s Gate 3.

The red one among them is for the vampire.

Archers All Done.

Tonight I decided to get these finished. It was really just the iron boots on them all and a blast around to try and hit any white spots.

I also sprayed the skeletons and rock chuckers. I think I will do the skellies first. I may have to support the horses to avoid the flexible resin droop.

Actually thinking about it, I have a couple of space frogs that I undercoated. So I might as well do these alongside the skeletons.

Glueing Stuff.

Tonight I got busy on the computer and really couldn’t be bothered to paint anything. So instead I glued miniatures to bases.

I will get these sprayed tomorrow.

Getting There With the Goblins

Tonight I did some work on the archers.

I would say, I am getting there.

Tonight I had to bottle some white paint…

Shoving a white tissue in as support wasn’t clever.

Yes the lid on my Skull white eventually gave up the ghost so an intervention was required. Well it was that or bin it. As the caption above says… I didn’t spill it. In fact I lost none.

Working on the Goblins

Tonight I decided that enough was enough and forced myself to sit down and paint. I got this far with the archers…

I quite like the blue/grey of the hoods. Still a long way to go, but progress is still progress.

I also found the missing skeletal horseman… he was hiding with more goblins.

There are half a dozen rock chuckers and a poor goblin trying to pacify a giant frog. The ones with the rocks are basically the swamp goblin equivalent to the Night Goblin fanatics.

I have noticed of late that the steroids aren’t seeming to be stopping the pain from the poly myalgia. The doctor is bumping me back up a mg to 9mg to see if that helps. Fingers crossed. Luckily I am now on my October break… Wooohooo 🥳.

Whatever is Next?

So after the multitude of Goblins, which I haven’t touched for two days, what will be next?

Well I think I will go back to the undead. I remembered the Skeleton cavalry so they will be undercoated ready to go once the goblin archers are done.

The more observant of you will notice there are seven mounts and only six riders… this is a puzzle to me too. Somewhere a skeleton is missing his horse.

To be honest I could have based a dozen halberd armed goblins, but these should be quicker.

The vampire on the left should be mounted on a zombie dragon thing, but when I printed her, I really couldn’t be bothered with the faff of another big thing.

Army Painter Awesomeness

Well as you know, I said that I had written to The Army Painter for the Geek club and that they were total dudes as they had sent the kids some Speedpaints 2.0. The kids wrote thank you letters and Peder sent us a message back . He also said he would pop us some more paint.

The kids were actually doing a happy dance when we opened the package with this lot in…

So as far as the Geek Club and I are concerned the team at Army Painter have ascended from total dudes to absolute awesome dudes of awesomeness.

So once again I want to just share their awesomeness. We aren’t YouTube influencers. We are a little school club. To these few kids they have made a huge impact.
