Still Alive and Sort of Painting

Well after a bit of a hiatus I managed to get my finger out and throw some paint on the 15mm miniatures.

The thirty of them are pretty much at this stage.

I am in a bit of flux at the minute. As some of you know I am the head teacher (principal) of a small school. Evidently it is going to be too small so they are likely going to shut us. Needless to say I am not really in the best of moods to paint right about now. I am only adding this to the blog as it is pretty much common knowledge up here and into Aberdeenshire and beyond.

Back to 15mm

I thought I would have a little diversion and do some Woodland Indians for the French and Indian wars…

I was thinking that thirty is a doable number, but when seen like this I am a bit more unsure. Well I will get them done, just might take a bit longer. The last lot were done in August 2018… before I got any contrast paint… we will see how we get on.

Making the Rust Work

This evening I decided to give the Dirty Down Rust another try. This time I stirred it first with a skewer. This took a good while… the photo was taken part way through the stirring process…

Once I had stirred it for a good while I inverted the bottle and saw light through the base so I reckoned it was time for a good old shake… turns out it had an agitator ball in! It definitely didn’t make that noise the other day!

So this is what it looked like after round two!

Much better in my mind!

The other thing I did was to glue thirty woodland Indians to pennies and undercoat them ready for a bit of a painting session sometime soon.

Back into New France

I didn’t get anything done this evening as I was playing Dad’s Taxi. I did however pop into the club and had a chat to Mike who had just found his British forces for the French Indian Wars.

It looks like our ancient project might be going to be rekindled…

Some of mine can be found Here

Rusty Scythe

As I mentioned yesterday, I had to attend a parent council meeting as the head teacher. I didn’t get in until gone 22:00.

I decided, however, to make the scythe a bit rusty.

I had already added some orangey colours, but thought I was add some Dirty Down rust as I never really get to use it much.

I warmed up the bottle and shook it like buggery and it didn’t work properly!

The only thing I can think of is one of two things. First, I should have stirred as well as shaken it or second the models are metal and were themselves really cold. I left them for a couple of hours. The bottle says ‘high Matt’ so I think it needs a stir as the scythe looks a tad shiny.

Pumpkins… Again

This evening I cracked on with the pumpkins and got them nearly finished.

The ones glued to the cardboard will be added to the resin ones in some kind of a pumpkin patch.

I have a parents meeting tomorrow night so really doubt I will get anything done after I get back.

More Pumpkins

This evening I got a start on my mates metal pumpkins.

To match in with the printed ones I did a black undercoat with a white dry brush.

I used a different orange for these. I reckon I will have to do some glazing of a lighter colour.

I actually used my Artis Opus dry brush for about the second time on ten months.

Hopefully I will carry on with these tomorrow… a statement that normally means I won’t touch anything for a few days.

Knights and Pumpkins

I carried on with the Knights and foot soldiers this evening. I just need to get the bases painted on the foot below. I have to finish Joan D’arc and make a start on another mounted knight and another banner bearer on foot,

I also got this lot done for my mate…

I still have to do the stems and then get them based up.

For these pumpkins I went outside my usual method and sprayed these black, dry brushed them white then added the orange. I actually did something different to my usual… I won’t be doing this regularly though.

In other news my new filament printer arrived today.

Something Achieved

This evening I forced myself to paint something. I am really not in the mood at the minute. Ongoing health problems mean I am knackered and then I have had this flu thing…

But this evening I went for it 🙂

Mr Dwarf was picked up and added to the part painted pile. He is nearly finished… it has only taken me about ten months so far.

Hopefully I will keep the momentum going tomorrow.

Not a Bad Morning

It was a really still morning this morning and I eventually managed to stop the car without getting in the way.

I took a little video too. It can be found Here

Managed to do nothing this evening… hopefully tomorrow will be better.
