Dog Update

First off, thank you to everyone who passed on positive waves and good vibes and also for asking after her health. Well the good news is she is still with us. The bad news is she still hasn’t had her op. This is primarily because of the weather. The boats have been somewhat erratic of late.

They wanted her on drugs prior to the op to basically thicken the blood. Unfortunately they didnt have any left…They were really good and sent Esther to the pharmacy (the human one) with a prescription for Tranexmatic Acid. From my understanding this is what you give haemophiliacs. So although she is still bleeding at times is it a bit of a dribble, rather than the sudden gush like normal.

If you want a graphic idea of what I mean, get some nice runny red paint and fill about half a cup of it then drop it from about a foot and a half. Oh yeah,… for the full effect get someone to chase you through the house while doing this to simulate trying to get hold of the dog while she is getting upset. Repeat once or twice a day.

Needless to say stress levels were a bit high during these episodes.

Honestly though she is a lot brighter than before the medication. We reckon blood loss would have made her very lethargic and feeling like crap.

Esther is phoning the vet tomorrow to see if they have any ideas on a timescale as the tablet’s run out in three days.

So here is the old lady in her usual pose…

Undercoat Done

Well today I did a bit too much and ended up buggered. I managed to get the 15mm and 28mm miniatures sprayed white. I just forgot to take any photos.

Hopefully I will make a start on something tomorrow.

Jean D’Arc

Well sort of…

Not really much done. I was going to undercoat the militia, but it was torrential rain and strong winds so there was no way I was going to go into the shed… wimp that I am!

I painted both flags in the same blue. This was with Army Painter standard acrylic. Some shading and highlighting will be required.

Oh yeah I painted the green on the knight too.

Hopefully I can carry on tomorrow.

Militia in Civilian Dress

Well tonight I got my finger out and washed a pile of pennies in hot soapy water. I then cleaned the bottom of the bases and filed them off.

Five minutes later they were all super glued down and ready for their undercoat. I just remembered I need to get them checked for flash and vent remains.

Mohawk Finished

Well as per normal … apart from the bases.

This is a down and dirty speed painting set. I wanted them done and out of the way so that is what I achieved. Could I improve on them, most definitely… am I going to… probably not.

I will try and get the militia onto their bases tomorrow. I can’t promise anything… our old whippet is bleeding lots from her mouth… when I say lots, I mean a gush not a dribble. There was blood from one end of the house to the other. Evidently sight hounds like her bleed like buggery. She was into the vets last week to sort the issue of a very loose tooth, which seems to be causing the problem. Sadly the drugs they needed to clot the blood had run out due to no ferries for a few days. We should know on Friday when she will be back in.

A Teeny Bit of Painting

This evening I got the 15mm stuff out again, painted feathers and moccasins. I was just shaking the metallic for the gun barrels and tomahawks when I realised that I had to go and pick my daughter up from her school dance. By time I got back I really couldn’t be bothered to get them back out again!

AHopefully I will do all the metals and bases tomorrow.

Talking of tomorrow I will hopefully find out what is going to happen to us all at work.

A Close Call

I did a little job today in that I replaced the rope around the fire door and glass. The glass is held in by 4 bolts and a piece of metal that sits up against the glass. Top two took a bit of coaxing but with the help of the impact driver they loosened. Bottom two we’re an absolute sod. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain below my right eye.

Turns out this tiny bit of metal had sheared off and took off like a bullet…

Can you guess who wasn’t wearing eye protection. To be honest I generally don’t when I am screwing or unscrewing something. Maybe I should start.

Sadly no painting tonight as everything was aching.

Hopefully I will get on with it tomorrow!

A Bit of Painting

Tonight I needed to do something constructive so got the 15mm stuff back out and got busy. I am going to be honest I was literally grabbing a miniature and painting something with the colours on the palette at the time. Hence the occasional red or blue moccasin! Not that you can see any in this image :).

Still a fair old way to go but we are getting there.

Hopefully the momentum will carry on tomorrow… after these I have thirty militia in civilian attire!
