Mizzy Again

This evening I did a smidge more on Mizzy. This time some of her leatherwork.

This was the Sand Golem Speedpaint. You can see the undiluted version of the colour on the bottle lid.

I really went to town on avoiding puddles (leading to staining). Sadly I did it so well that the lower coloured bit has lost all definition. It looks totally flat.

I really must brave the rosy cheeks sometime soon. I am do far out of my depth on how to do this that the fish have lights on their heads.

On a totally different note, my posting streak has reset properly now. Today I got back to where I thought it should be… namely 82 days in a row.

Mizzy’s Blouse

Well this evening I did my first pass on the cloth. For this I chose Space grey from Vallejo. I am not sure how much medium I used, but it was about 4:1

This is a totally different way for me to paint. Normally it would be slap the colour on and move on. To be fair to myself I am normally painting whole Armies or warbands.

This (or rather I am forcing myself) to work in a different way to usual. I am having to slow down and mop up pooling more. I would sometimes not bother as it would be covered by another colour or hidden in the mass of miniatures. You can see where I have removed some of the darker pooling below. Still not perfect but a better attempt.

I shall carry on with this and see how I get on over her and the other three busts.

Mizzy and the Goblins

This evening as expected I was absolutely drained from our leavers assembly. It was rammed full of people.

I did manage to get another  layer of paint on Mizzy’s skin.

I also got the goblins onto their bases and also glued onto their frogs.

I am hoping to get some more done on this lot tomorrow.

Goblin Frog Riders

Well as expected I printed the three missing frog riders, and because I can never ever leave any space on the build plate I added a couple of Gallian men at arms.

I even managed to choose ones I hadn’t used before… (pure fluke!)

But because it is me then I decided to print another half dozen men at arms!

Sadly I didn’t feel up to painting and didn’t even try. Not sure if I will manage tomorrow as it is the school leaver’s assembly. I probably won’t be up to much.

Made a Start

So I made a start on Mizzy. I really just did the skin and pedestal, but it’s a start. I got a bit of staining, but it might actually work to my advantage as to where it is. It is really standing out against the white, but once the cloth is done it should look fine

I also got the flesh done on the other undercoated bust. It seemed a shame to waste the paint.

Goblins and a Bust

This evening I got round to painting the white bits on these goblins that had been left unfinished.

Now, I will need three more frog riders to make up a unit. Perhaps something to print this weekend.

I also got the final bust off the plate. Once again it is from Miniatures of Madness. She is called Loreil Softvale, a druid.

Now the miniature version is as above (with legs- obviously). It also comes with a NSFW version. She is nude, now I am not a prude by any stretch of the imagination but… I really, and I mean really don’t get it. Why do people want them? Yes I get that someone might want to paint a lot of skin and eventually have a use for their pot of nipple pink paint. Each to their own I guess. I am seeing a lot more (oooh err) NSFW appearing in kickstarters. In some cases clothed and unclothed. Interestingly they are never male, or at least I have never noticed any appearing.

This might be bias as I am not interested so don’t bother looking.

Okay rant over for the evening… I will try and start on the bust tomorrow.

Busts and Goblins

Well I retried the bust from yesterday and she came out fine. Obviously the bed had moved and needed re levelling. I now have four to choose from.

The two grey ones are Tytan Troll. The guy on the right is from the Curse of Strahd (some D&D adventure I think). I thought the goblin with the top knot looked funky. The smaller of the undercoated one was a free one from My Mini factory…. Diego Irrazabal. This one printed in five sections. Base, torso, head and the two arms. The big one is from Miniatures of Madness. She is Mizzy the Articifer. She has a matching 32mm miniature and diorama too.  I have her through the tribe. I get one bust a month. This one came through that.

I also mentioned goblins… well here are my swamp goblins so far, by so far I mean ones that I can find.

My KR cases came today… luckily I have goblins as I messed up the sizes. Yes I could have probably sent it back, but these sort of fit and to be honest I can use the inserts fir my 15mm armies.

I just have to decide which bust I am going to start tomorrow. What do you reckon? left to right:

  • A- goblin
  • B- Mizzi
  • C – Armoured Girl
  • D- Bloke in the hat

Until tomorrow…

Finished Projects

Today I managed to finish a couple of projects.

First up is the elf bust. I added a bronze colour (well I think it was – might have been an antique gold) to the dress top and crown…

I even found her stand which I sprayed black earlier. It has an elvish motif around it which I will dry brush gold.

I also worked on the dwarven bear rider and got him finished…

I just noticed white spots on the red bits where the paint has rubbed off.

I also decided to print off a new bust. I was a bit annoyed to find four hours later that it had failed. Much swearing took place. I used the pre-supprted version. I have redone  the supports myself. Now it could be the case that my bed needs levelling. I will find out tomorrow when I redo her.

I have got about half a dozen busts that I have acquired over the years, as well as a couple if new ones. Come to think of it, I probably have closer to a dozen.

Elven Eyes

Well today I worked on the two chemical storage tanks. I basically coloured all the grey bits seen in the photo below.

I also worked on the elf, there was a lot of glazing on the hair, especially on her right and on the back. I also bit the bullet and had a go at the eyes. I decided if I tried to use paint then I would totally cock it up. So instead I used a sharp pencil. I wanted green eyes, but one of my kids borrowed my coloured pencils and has now lost them. I think it has worked… a bit piercing, but not bad for the first-ever attempt.

She does have eyebrows, but they are not really visible in this photo.

I might actually get her finished tomorrow.
