The printer has been chugging away for three hours and four minutes this evening producing the first of the Stug III.
I am not sure what happened, but the barrel has had a bit of a wobble and has a melted lump near the middle. It seems solid enough though.
As can be seen from the photo above, I decided to give the statues a coat of dark grey. Once this layer is dry I will dry brush up through lighter shades of grey.
I didn’t get much more done as I have caught a lurgey from the kids in school. My voice has gone and I am alternating between coughing my guts up and sneezing. All in all feeling sorry for myself.
So to cheer me up please direct me to a picture of the back end of a Stug as I am not sure what is support that needs removing and what is AFV that needs to stay.
Tomorrow I will print off more AFV’s
Hope you’re feeling better soon! As far as StuGs are concerned, they usually just have an armoured plate overhanging the exhaust silencers, the latter being mounted on the lower hull rear plate. If it’s any consolation, and I shouldn’t really say this, but I usually stick the silencers on the wrong way up! Found this https://modelingmadness.com/scott/misc/military/stug3.htm of an early mark and it looks about right to me!

Cheers John, mine seems to have a flat back, but it might just be support that I can’t get out.

. . . or they may not have added that much detail to the back!

Looks like I have printed a ‘g’ I was hoping for roughly late 41 to early 42. I think this is the earliest I can go.. oh well, I doubt someone will refuse to play as the Stug is out by a few months 😋

I’m not all that good with early StuGs. Without looking anything up or googling it, I’d guess that StuGs in early 1942 still carried the short 75mm and that the transition to longer weapons in both them and Panzer IVs occurred from mid-42 on! We could both check this out further but neither of need to! 🙂

I have just found a short 75 Stug (well all types actually) on Thingiverse not to mention a 222 😁

Like the look of the STUG- really is a workhorse of the Heer.
